I'm pretty sure you got your wish-sort of. According to Purdue Pharma, they have successfully reformulated oxycontin to be 'tamper resistant' starting the third quarter of this year. But how exactly? Is it an opioid antagonist? I doubt it. What do you think? I don't have any solid answers yet.

Beware of the law of unintended consequences. Back in the day, in the Temazepam capsules were formulated with a low molecular weight PEG that was liquid at room temperature. And the boys and girls were injecting themselves IV with it.

This was obviously a BAD THING.

the answer was obvious: reformulate with an increased molecular weight PEG that was a waxy solid at room temperature.

It didn't take long for the boys and girls to realise that all you had to do was heat the capsules gently - hot water in a tea cup would do - then the pege would liquify and you could inject.

Evolution in action. hIt the femoral artery and you would get necrosis from your grin to your toes. Slow death IV in the arm and the PEG would solidify in the pulmonary vasculature. Rapid death

Like i said, evolution in action

I haven't seen any article about it yet but most of the junkies get the immediate release Roxicodone generics because it is cheaper than the Oxycontin.

But of course Purdue still says Oxycontin is for "moderate to severe pain" to save their asses when junkies overdose on it eventhough Purdue's drug reps were the ones pushing mds to write for TID dosing which lead to many many overdoses because oversell is good for their bottom line....fucking drug pushing bastards!!!! They are just as much to blame for Oxycontin abuse as Enron execs are responsible for their company taking a nose dive into oblivion!!!

Yep. It turns out to be a plastic-like coating that the junkies will find a way to remove.

If people want to get high they will, it doesn't matter what the drug companies do. Drug users are sneaky.
