Has this ever happened to you?

Well, first off, I apologize for the awful quality.

But today, we got sent 30 bottles of generic Depakote ER 500 mg. I use the passive voice, because this was auto-ordered by the replenishment system. We haven't used this much of this drug since it came out!

"We were sent" would be passive voice. "We got sent" is simply poor grammar.

Holy cow..you write the strength in the same spot of that awful diovan box as we do. I have no idea why that amazes me so much..

Back in 2008 we got around 300 albuterol MDIs. Ugh

Yeah..why does this happen? Also, the way we input generic depakote is very confusing. delayed vs extended release is not very clear in our system. causes errors. me no likey!

It actually happened to us recenly too, except instead of generic Depakote, we got 30 tubes of Tazorac 1% cream.

.... that still baffles me. At most we sell two a month.

You could always just put it on your $4 dollar list and get rid of it really quick!

Once at my former job the server crashed and lost all of our inventory data. The system auto ordered before we could get everything restored. We had huge boxes of metformin and ibuprofen on the floor for months afterwards.

@ Anonymous (the first) - You are totally correct, and I wouldn't have used that phrase in a non-conversational manner.

@ Carolyn - Have you thought about dressing in tight clothing and visiting dermatologists in your area posing as a drug rep?

Is your Ship Size or Package Size set incorrectly?

We had about 4000 count of gabapentin 300mgs at one point. Onhands were fine, called up support and they're only response "and what's the problem?" Took over a month to correct..

The idea of auto-order is good but the execution involves a lot of time maintaining inventory on hand counts which is damn near impossible when you are expected to run a pharmacy on a skeleton crew and deal with a bunch of bullsh*t reports on top of that.

Or, what about the bottles of 10 tablets for the patient that needs 300 for his script?

You can't send it back? I send stuff back to McKesson all the time. Even old stuff--they take it if it's within 7 months of expiring in my state. We only get 75% credit, but that's better than letting it sit on the shelf until it expires.

That's a 2 week supply in my pharmacy. We did get 32 half-lytelys 2 weeks in a row. Yes total 64 huge boxes or 15 totes. Sent those back after some arguing with corpro

Don't put it outside. It melts.

Usually when that happens at my store it's because someone screwed up inputting last week. For instance, Duac comes in a 45gm tube. Well they got the big idea to make it a kit and all of a sudden the quantity for one 45gm tube become "1". The floater jackass working that day entered billed a quantity of "45", ignored all error messages and it went through. Needless to say when 40 some Duac's show up next week I know exactly where to look. I just sent them back outdated last month after storing them in the fridge for 2 years. Can't send back fridge products. Check you dispensing history.

Anon - you can't return fridge products at all???? Sounds odd...Also, I really hate anything that comes in a kit. CNL-8 is the stuff nightmares are built around. Why should anyone have to go to school for 7 years to dispense...nail polish remover?????

We once received 82 bottles of generic Sinemet instead of 2, but that was back in the Telxon days...

Ha, I remember way back when auto replenishment was brand new at the Aid of Rite, at which I worked overnights then. Someone on the day shift put in a script for Terazol 3 cream (package size 20 grams), but used the NDC for the suppositories (package size 3 each). The computer said, "Gee, look, someone dispensed seven boxes of this in one day! I better send them more!"

So over the next two weeks, we received no fewer than 57 boxes. Worst part was, when they first came up with auto-replenishment, although you could add stuff to the list, you couldn't remove anything, so we knew we were gonna get buried in suppositories, but there wasn't anything we or anyone else could do about it.

What wound up happening was, since there were several Aid of Rites in the neighborhood and we always were borrowing stock from each other, I took a page from the book version of Princess Bride ("you want the English version, you gotta buy the Florinian too") and told every store that wanted stuff, Sure, you can have that Premarin 1.25, but you have to take two or three boxes of these damn suppositories along with them. Took me months, but I eventually cleared them out before they expired.
