Ding Ding Ding! We Have A Winner!
Plan B is available at the pharmacy for purchase with a photo ID proving the purchaser is 17 years old. The message on the box states "Prescription required for women under age 17."
A man called because he came in earlier in the evening and purchased a box of Plan B. He called very concerned that we had sold him the one for under 17 year olds and needed to know if it would still work for someone over 17 years old. I was speechless.
This guy must have swam out of the shallow end of the gene puddle. You know, the "gene puddle." Definition: a minute puddle cut off from the gene pool by global warming that allowed for the most severe degradation of the human genetic sequence resulting in acts or words of stupidity that defy even an every day Joe's imagination.
So I firmly and simply replied that the pill labeled Plan B is the same only the law needs a prescription for a young girl. He expressed great relief and after he hung up the phone I laughed so hard I almost peed myself. This guy is ready for plan C, ie castration. If there is a God he will never allow that guy's genetic material to be passed along but we all know from experience that the people who want kids have the hardest time getting pregnant while those who have no business with children breed like rabbits. Another winner indeed.

hilarious!
I nicely asked a fat bitch to get off her phone so that we could discuss a drug interaction. She was so offended! After our discussion, in which she paid no attention, she snatched the bag from my hand. Fuck! Did she think it was a corn dog?! I hate medicaid and medicated free loaders.
Can men really pick up Plan B without presence of female? Don't like the implication of that random thought...
I like how people think there's an age limit to take medication.
Isn't it obvious? The geriatric population shouldn't be taking baby aspirin because it's for babies!
Wow.
I am all for Plan B OTC. God damn I wish it was handed out with welfare checks.
The United States of Entitlement is alive and well...
it sure does seem like two things are becoming more commonplace:
1. People like my wife and I (read: professional school graduates and positive contributors to America) are having NO children, or at the most, one child. Many reasons for this, including the female not wanting to forego any caterer opportunities, etc.
2. People that are having children are increasingly more likely to not have the slightest clue about how to parent. I don't just mean Fatty McFat with Fatsomyalgia on the government tit - some of our friends are reproducing and while they have decent money, they are horrible parents! And will most likely turn out "raising" entitled brats who will then not understand fiscal responsibility, etc.
It's really vexing to me why we have licenses to do just damn near ANYTHING, yet there is no control on who reproduces and how much they do it.
License to breed!! C'mon. you know you want it people!!!
came over here from Dr. Grumpy's site; oh my gosh, this was funny, but sad at the same time.....we truly are dumbing ourselves down as Americans........; where did intelligence go?
betty
heavenly day!
LOL
stupid lives and breathes...
and unfortunately breeds, you're right! Yep, some people really need to be neutered!
I was under the impression you had to be female to purchase it and show your id (MEN ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PURCHASE THIS)
When I saw the One Step Plan B, the first words out of my mouth were "oh look, it's even more idiot-proof." Not even kidding.
He and his lady probably needed the Plan B because he didn't know how to work the condom.
hmmmmm, sounds like he must be related to the staff person I work with who questioned whether or not they should wake the patiet up to give him an Ambien - luckily I was on the phone so I could make all the faces and gestures I wanted to!
..."wake the patient up to give them Ambien..." Wow! What a moron...
The guidelines for Plan-B sale state "consumers over 17 with a valid government issued ID" meaning men can purchase it also. There is a gray area here as to whether the girl they are purchasing it for is over 17 but many times the guys I have sold it to were in their 30's or older so I assume the girl isn't under 18...gross pedophiles...
Let men purchase it! It should be free!!!! It should be in bubblegum machines and on the wall in bathrooms!!
The box actually says "Rx only for patients under age 17" and I have to say this wording is very unclear - it leads the patient, and many others, to think it is ONLY FOR PATIENTS UNDER 17.
"Prescription required for patients under 17" would have been much more understandable, and if this were actually the only thing the box said, I would agree with you about the so-called stupidity of this patient. The wording on the box, however, also confused me and the rest of the staff at my pharmacy. (Sorry, I couldn't just let this one go.)
Everyone, watch the movie "Idiocracy", it's where the US is heading. Seriously. It's funny but sad at the same time.
The FDA has approved Plan B One-Step (WITHOUT A PRESCRIPTION) for 17 year olds
From Plan B One-Step's website:
"Available without a prescription for consumers 17 or older."
As a pharmacist you should know this!
